Hey, I'm 29 year old Australian guy, suffering from Sleep Apnea... I wake up around 33 times an hour, and it triggers Migraine headaches for me.
I've just lost my job because of it... can't really complain though, they held my job open for over a year without any complaint. Unfortunately I can't offer any sort of idea as to when I'll be able to work again, so there goes one brilliant job. :/
I can't use CPAP... can't tolerate it, I'm allergic to the mask, and towards the end of my trial started developing panic attacks whilst wearing the mask. My current specialist has refused to offer me any other sort of treatment... I don't have Health Isurance, so he won't refer me to a surgeon, even to see if that would be an option for me... if it is, I'm sure we could come up with the money somehow!!!
I'm not too sure about the other options available... there isn't any information available here... so I'm curious as to what works for others... and if anyone's heard of successful alternative treatments to CPAP (or anything else using a mask).

Have you tried using the oxygen-cannula-type mask with a CPAP?

Oddly, I have the opposite problem - I don't like the cannula, but the mask that goes over the nose is fine for me. I've used the CPAP for two days, and I've had the best two nights' sleep in years...

Yeah, I know of them, but haven't tried them. I found that my sinuses in general objected violently to having air forced through them, and that started a series of sinus infections and blockages both whilst using the machine, and for several hours after I got up... that pretty much means anything nasal is out for me.
I tried the mask over the nose, both with and without the chin strap, and then went on to a full face mask... unfortunately none of it worked for me, so here I am, looking for other opinions/ideas/solutions, because my doctor certainly hasn't offered any!

That's great for you, and to be honest, it seems to be the norm, supposedly it will only get better... my doctor has told me that it will take up to 12 months to fully adjust to using CPAP... so bad sleep is probably going to be a thing of the past for you! :)
